GUIDELINES FOR 5TH CONVOCATION, 2016

At the IIS University, Convocation is the graduation ceremony to award degrees/diplomas to students declared qualified in various examinations and honorary degrees to be conferred on distinguished persons with unique record of serving the society or contributing meaningfully to the world of knowledge and wisdom. On this prestigious day, students who have excelled in specific fields as per University norms are also awarded University gold medals and endowment awards.

The details regarding the programme and procedure of convocation are given hereunder:

1. Programme

  • The Fifth Convocation of the University is scheduled on 20 December 2016 at The ICG Campus, Gurukul Marg, Mansarovar,  Jaipur from 10:30 am onwards, wherein the degrees/ diplomas will be conferred on the graduands and University gold medals and merit certificates will be awarded to the toppers of various programmes. Endowment awards will also be given to the students excelling in specific areas and fulfilling the requirements of such an award.

 2. Procedure of Registration

  1. For Undergraduate and Postgraduate graduands
  • For attending the convocation to obtain degrees and/or gold medals, the graduands are required to apply online at the University website (www.iisuniv.ac.in) and submit the Security Deposit of Rs.1,500/- through credit/debit cards
  • The Security Deposit is refundable on the return/ deposition of the academic dress. In case of any damage , loss or no-return of the academic dress, the Security Deposit will be forfeited
  • The last date to apply for attending the convocation is 16th December, 2016 
  • The candidates may, however, apply offline by sending a hard copy of the application along with a Demand Draft of Rs. 1,500/- drawn in favour of ‘The IIS University, Jaipur’ or may personally submit application in the University Office along with an amount of Rs. 1,500/- in cash till 19th December, 2016
  • The cheque for reimbursing the Security Deposit will be prepared in the name of the graduand
  • Graduands who wish to receive their degrees ‘in absentia’ should also apply online at the University website (www.iisuniv.ac.in) and submit an amount of Rs.200/- (administrative cum postal charges) through credit/debit cards. The last date for applying online for receiving degrees ‘in absentia’ is 16th December 2016 
  • The candidates may also apply offline for receiving degrees ‘in absentia’ by sending a Demand Draft of Rs. 200/-(administrative cum postal charges) drawn in favour of ‘The IIS University, Jaipur’ along with the duly filled in prescribed pro forma available at the University website www.iisuniv.ac.in. Alternatively, they may submit their application in person in the University Office along with a fee of Rs. 200/- in cash
  • All graduands of this University who confirm their participation in the convocation by submitting the requisite application along with the security deposit will be allowed to attend the convocation

Each graduand will be entitled to bring along with him/her, one guest (parent/guardian/relative).

 

  1. For Ph.D., M.Phil. and PGDM graduands

 

 

  • The Ph.D., M.Phil. and PGDM graduands can procure the convocation form from the University reception and submit the duly filled in form in the University office along with the degree fee of Rs. 2000/- and a Security Deposit of Rs. 1,500/-(Security Deposit is refundable on the return/ deposition of the academic dress) by 19th December, 2016. However, in case of any damage , loss or no-return of the academic dress, the Security Deposit will be forfeited
  • The cheque for reimbursing the Security Deposit will be prepared in the name of the graduand
  • Graduands who wish to receive their degrees ‘in absentia’ should also submit Rs. 2,200/- (degree fee of Rs. 2000/- and administrative cum postal charges of Rs. 200/-) along with the duly filled in prescribed pro forma available at the University office.
  • All graduands of this University who confirm their participation by submitting the requisite application and degree fee along with the security deposit (as specified above) will be allowed to attend the convocation
  • Each graduand will be entitled to bring along with him/her, one guest (parent/guardian/husband/wife/relative).

 

3. Persons who can attend

  • All graduands of this University who confirm their participation by submitting the requisite application and convocation fee along with the security deposit, as applicable to them, will be allowed to attend the convocation. Each graduand will be entitled to bring along with him/her, one guest (parent/guardian/relative).The details of the guest should be mentioned in the application submitted by the graduand

 4.  Passes and Coupons

  • All graduands who have confirmed their participation will be issued entry passes and lunch coupons on 19 December 2016, after the rehearsal is over. These will be issued from the counters set up for the purpose on showing the receipt of Convocation fee and security deposit. The candidates should compulsorily bring their photo identity proofs for obtaining entry tickets and lunch coupons.
  • Entry passes and lunch coupons will not be mailed to the graduands

 

 5. Convocation Dress

5.1 For Graduands

A)  Dress Code

  • The graduands are required to follow the following dress code norms for the convocation:
  • Females: Saris with appropriate woolen garments. (Shawls/Stoles not    permitted)
  • Males: White shirt, black/grey trousers and blazer or suit with tie and black shoes
  • Casual footwear (trainers, plimsolls, flip-flops, Bathroom slippers and hawai chappals etc) is not permitted
  • Flowers, handbags, or other articles should neither be worn nor be carried during the convocation ceremony

Since storage/ locker facility is not available, the graduands should leave their purses, valuables, bags, etc., at home or with their guests for safe keeping

B) Academic Dress

  • The graduands will wear the academic dress for the convocation ceremony which comprises convocation gown, cap and hood.
  • All  the graduands of UG Programmes will wear black gowns and black caps, however the colour of the hoods will be faculty specific, viz:
  • Arts and Social Science faculty: RED
  • Commerce and Management faculty: YELLOW
  • Science faculty: BLUE
  • Similarly all the graduands of PG Programmes will wear black gowns and black caps but the colour of the hoods will be faculty specific, viz.
  • Arts and Social Science faculty: RED & SILVER
  • Commerce and Management faculty: YELLOW & WHITE 
  • Science faculty: BLUE & LIGHT BLUE
  • For Ph.D./ M.Phil. graduands the Academic robes will consist of:
  • Red gown with yellow facing
  • Red cap
  • Red and Golden lining Hood
  • The graduands without academic dress will not be permitted to attend the Convocation Ceremony in person.

 5.2 For the guests, officers and the members of the Statutory Bodies (Board of Management & Academic Council) of the University.

A) Dress Code

  • The dress code for all the faculty of the University will be as follows:
    • Females: Function sari with uniform blazer
    • Males : Uniform with tie and blazer
  • There will be no dress code for the guests and the members of the Statutory Bodies (Board of Management & Academic Council) of the University other than the faculty.

B) Academic dress

  • Chancellor / Vice Chancellor / Rector & Registrar:

Royal Blue Velvet Gown with heavy embroidery (Serpentine in front and on sleeves) made like an Oxford Proctor’s dress down; Blue Velvet Academic Cap with Gold Tassel, nine inches long

  • Chief Guest  :

Maroon Velvet Gown with heavy embroidery (Flower Type in front and on sleeves) made like an Oxford Proctor’s dress down;  Maroon Velvet Academic Cap with embroidery and Gold Tassel, nine inches long

  • Deans and Members of the Board of Management:

Red Poly Silk Gown with Blue facing and zari stripe in front and on sleeves; Red Academic Cap with zari and Gold Tassel, nine inches long

  • Members of the Academic Council:

Black Poly Silk Gown with zari stripe in front and on sleeves; Black Academic Cap with zari and Gold Tassel, nine inches long

6. Collection and Deposition of Academic Dress & Convocation Kits

6.1 For Graduands

  • The graduands applying within the due date for attending the convocation along with the requisite fee and/ or security deposit, as the case may be, will receive their degrees, convocation kits (consisting of convocation booklets, book of addresses, list of graduands, entry tickets & lunch coupons), academic dress on showing the receipt of convocation fee and/ or security deposit, as the case may be, and photo ID, from the counters set up for the purpose on 19 December 2016 at The ICG Campus, Gurukul Marg, Mansarovar, Jaipur, when they come for the rehearsal
  • The graduands are required to return the academic dress intact immediately after the Convocation is over, at the counter(s) set up for the purpose and collect the cheques of refund of the security deposit
  • The Ph.D. M.Phil. graduands and the merit position holders of various programmes will be awarded degrees/diplomas in person by the Chancellor/Vice Chancellor/ Chief Guest. As such, degrees/ diplomas will not be issued to them from the counter However, they are required to collect their academic dress and convocation kits from the counters

 6.2 For the guests, officers and the members of the Statutory Bodies (Board of Management and Academic Council) of the University

  • The academic dress to all the members of Academic Council, the Board of Management and the guests will be distributed on 20 December 2016 at 9:50 am from the rooms designated for this purpose in the A Block. After the Convocation, the dresses will be collected at the same place by the authorized person(s)

7.  Supplication of Grace

  • A Special meeting of the Academic Council will be held on 19 December 2016 to pass the grace for conferment of degrees/diplomas on the graduands of the University, award of gold medals and merit certificates to the toppers of the different programmes and endowment awards to the graduates who have excelled in the specific field
  • The Registrar will propose passing of the grace for conferment of degrees and diplomas in different faculties. The Academic Council will then pass the grace for conferment of the degrees and diplomas on the graduands in different faculties
  • The Registrar will then propose the award of University gold medals and merit certificates to the toppers of different programmes and the Endowment Awards to the candidates who have excelled in the specific fields. The Academic Council will accord its approval for the same
  • A special meeting of the Board of Management will also be held on 19 December 2016 In this meeting, the recommendations of Academic Council for conferment of degrees/diplomas to be conferred on the graduands in different faculties will be considered. The Board of Management will accord its approval to the same

8. Rehearsal

  • Rehearsal will be held on Friday, 19 December 2016 at The ICG Campus, Gurukul Marg, Mansarovar, Jaipur, from 10:20 am onwards.
  • The reporting time for the graduands at the venue will be by 9:45 am
  • All the graduands attending the Convocation are required to attend the same in plain clothes. The officers of the University and the internal members of the Statutory Bodies (Board of Management & Academic Council) of the University are also required to attend the rehearsal.

 9. Entry Gates

  • On the day of the convocation, entry  for all to the venue will be through Gate A (Main Gate)

 10. Robing

10.1 Robing of Graduands

  • The graduands of different faculties will wear the academic dress in the rooms allocated for the purpose. Student volunteers will assist them. There will be separate dressing rooms for male and female graduands

 10.2 Robing of guests, officers and members of the Statutory Bodies (Board of Management and Academic Council) of the University.

  • After the Chancellor and the Chief Guest have been received they will be requested to proceed for robing
  •  The internal members of the Academic Council, Board of Management, Deans, Rector & Registrar will wear the academic dress in the rooms designated for this purpose in the ‘A’ Block
  •  The Vice Chancellor, Chief Guest, Chancellor, and the External Members of the Board of Management and Academic Council will wear the regalia in Board Room next to the VC chamber. The volunteers will assist them in wearing the Academic Dress

 11. Seating Arrangement

11.1 Graduands and Invited Guests

  • The graduands and their guests will take their seats in the Convocation area in the concerned faculty blocks after wearing their academic robes by 10:00 am.
  • The recipients of University gold medals, endowment award and degrees in person from the Chancellor will occupy seats in the front rows reserved for them.

The invited guests, Media persons, parents and faculty members will take their seats in the designated areas as per the block diagram shown below by 10:20 am.


 

 11.2 Dais Seating

  • The Chancellor, Chief Guest, Vice Chancellor, Rector & Registrar, recipient of Honorary Degree (Honoris Causa), Advisor, Dean & Director (CRIT), Deans and Members of the Board of Management will take their seats on the dais
  • The members of the Academic Council will be seated in front of the dais at the place reserved for them
  •  

The block diagram of the seating arrangement is shown below:

 

  12.  Discipline

  • During the entire ceremony the graduands and accompanying guests will remain seated   and observe complete silence
  • Since Convocation Ceremony is a solemn occasion which requires a particular decorum, it is strongly advised that graduands and accompanying guests keep their mobile phones in switched off/silent mode and do not carry with them cameras/handy-cams etc., and refrain from photography/videography in the Convocation hall
  • They are also advised to refrain from moving in and out of the Convocation venue and cheer and shout in between award ceremony and Convocation address. However, they can show their enthusiasm and boost the morale of the awardees by clapping as and when required.

 13. Photography/Videography

  • No private photographers will be permitted at the convocation venue
  • The University will make necessary arrangements for taking the photographs during the Convocation ceremony
  • The graduates may contact the photographers authorized by the University for their photographs after the ceremony is declared dissolved.

 

 14. Commencement of Convocation Proceedings

14.1 Formation of Academic Procession

  • The members of the Board of Management and the Academic Council and the Deans will assemble at the starting point of the Convocation procession in the foyer outside the V.C. chambers and stand in the order prescribed for procession. The Chancellor, the Vice chancellor, the chief Guest will be then requested by the Registrar to join the procession.

 

  • Order of Procession will be as follows :

  • Procession will move towards the Convocation Hall following a specific route.
  •  The announcement to this effect will be made as follows:

“Ladies and Gentlemen, the academic procession will now enter the convocation hall. You may please stand up and remain standing till all the members of the procession have taken their seats. May I request you to switch off your cell phones for the duration of the convocation to avoid disturbance to the proceedings.”

  • The Convocation procession will enter the Convocation hall at the scheduled time of commencement of Convocation Ceremony. When the procession passes through the Convocation hall all including the guests will stand up and remain standing till the time all the members in the procession have taken their seats.

14.2 Invocation Ceremony

  • There will be Saraswati Vandana immediately after all the members in the procession have taken their seats. This will be followed by lamp lighting by the Chancellor, Chief Guest, Vice Chancellor, Registrar and BOM Member (Trustee-Management) and floral welcome of the dignitaries.

15.  Declaring the Convocation Open

  • The Registrar will make a request to the Chancellor to accord permission for Convocation to be declared open in the following words:

“Mr. Chancellor, the Fifth Convocation of The IIS University has been called to award D.Litt. (Honoris Causa) degree upon Sh. John F. Germ and confer Degrees and Diplomas upon the candidates who have been certified worthy of the same by the Academic Council and the Board of Management of this University. If permitted, the Convocation be declared open.”

  • In response to the request made by the Registrar, the Chancellor will accord permission for declaring the Convocation open in the following words:

“By virtue of the authority vested in me as the Chancellor of The IIS University, I grant permission to declare the Convocation open.”

  • On permission being granted by the Chancellor, the Registrar will request the Vice Chancellor to declare the Convocation open in the following words :

“Mr. Vice Chancellor, may I now request you to declare the Fifth Convocation of the University Open”.

  • In response to the request made by the Registrar, the Vice Chancellor will declare the convocation open by saying :

“With the permission of the Chancellor, I hereby declare the Fifth Convocation of the University open”.

16. Welcome Address by the Vice Chancellor

  • After the Convocation is declared open, the Registrar will announce:

“Mr. Vice Chancellor, I request you to welcome the Chief Guest, recipient of Honorary Degree, dignitaries, guests and graduands present in the Convocation Hall and to present a report on the major activities of the University during the last one year.”

  • In response to the same, the Vice Chancellor will welcome the Chief Guest, the Chancellor, recipient of Honorary Degree, guests and the recipients of degrees, diplomas, medals and merit certificates. He will also present a brief report reviewing the activities of the University during the last one year.

17. Award and Conferment of Honorary Degree (Honoris Causa) on Sh. John F. Germ

  • After a brief introductory audio-visual presentation on Sh. John F. Germ, the Registrar will be requested by the compere  to present Sh. John F. Germ for the award of Honorary Degree of Doctor of Letters (Honoris Causa) before the Chancellor in the following words:

“I request Madam Registrar to present Sh. John F. Germ for the award of Honorary Degree of Doctor of Letters (Honoris Causa) to him for his distinguished contribution in the field of Humanitarian Services-Polio Eradication, before the Chancellor.”

  • The Registrar will then seek permission of the Chancellor to present Sh. John F. Germ by saying:

“ Mr. Chancellor, permit me to present to you in accordance with the grace passed by the Academic Council and the Board of Management of The IIS University, Sh. John F. Germ for award of Doctor of Letters (Honoris Causa)  degree for his distinguished contribution in the field of Humanitarian Services-Polio Eradication

  • The Chancellor will accord permission for the same in these words:

“By virtue of the authority vested in me as Chancellor of The IIS University, I hereby grant permission for presenting Sh. John F. Germ for the award of Doctor of Letters (Honoris Causa) degree for which approval has been accorded by the Academic Council and the Board of Management.”

  • The Registrar will then read the citation in honour of Sh. John F. Germ and will invite the Vice-Chancellor, the Chancellor and the Chief Guest to honour Sh. John F. Germ in the following words:

“I request Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, the Chancellor and the Chief Guest to felicitate Sh. John F. Germ and award him the Doctor of Letters (Honoris Causa) Degree.’

  • The Vice Chancellor, the Chancellor and the Chief Guest will then felicitate Sh. John F. Germ by garlanding him and presenting a Shawl, Citation and the Degree Certificate to him.
  • The Registrar will then request the Chancellor to confer the Honorary Degree awarded to Sh. John F. Germ in the following words:

“Now I request the Chancellor to confer the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Letters (Honoris Causa) on Sh. John F. Germ”

  • The Chancellor will confer the Honorary Degree on Sh. John F. Germ in the following words:

“By virtue of authority vested in me as the Chancellor of The IIS University, I admit you to the degree of Doctor of Letters (Honoris Causa). In token thereof, you have been presented with this degree and I authorize you to wear the robe as the insignia of the said degree”

  • The Registrar will then request Sh. John F. Germ to deliver his acceptance speech in the following words:

“I now request Sh. John F. Germ, the recipient of D. Litt. (Honoris Causa) degree of this university to deliver his acceptance speech”.

 18. Award of Research Degrees and Degrees/ Diplomas to the Rank Holders/Conferment of Degrees/ Diplomas

  • After the conferment of the Honorary Degree (Honoris Causa), the Deans of Faculties will be requested by the Registrar, one by one, to present the Ph.D. graduands; the merit position holders of different programmes at the postgraduate and undergraduate levels for award of degrees in person and then position holders of different Career Oriented and Skill Development Programmes for the award of Advanced Diplomas in person. Thereafter, all the graduands in the faculty will be presented for conferment of their Degrees and Diplomas.

18.1 Arts and Social Sciences

  • The Registrar will  say:

“In my capacity as the Registrar of the University, I request the Dean, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, to present the graduands in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences for conferment of their Degrees and Diplomas by the Chancellor. I request the Dean to present the recipients of the Research Degrees of Ph.D. first and then the Merit Position holders of different programmes at Postgraduate level and thereafter the Merit Position holders of the Professional, Honours and Pass Course programmes at the Undergraduate level for award of Degrees in person. The Merit Position holders of different Advanced Diploma Courses of Career Oriented and Skill Development programmes may then be presented for the award of Diplomas in person. After that, all the graduands in the faculty may be presented for conferment of their Degrees by the Chancellor.”

 18.1.1 Presenting of the Ph.D. degree recipients and  merit position holders of different Programmes by the Dean, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences for award of degrees/diplomas in person and then all the graduands in the faculty for conferment of degrees/ diploma.

  1. Award of Degrees in Person
  • The Dean, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, will seek permission of the Chancellor for the same in the following words:

“Mr. Chancellor, permit me to present to you in accordance with the grace passed by the Academic Council and the Board of Management of The IIS University, the candidates whose names are herewith submitted for award of Research Degrees of Ph.D.; the Merit Position holders of different programmes at the Postgraduate level; Professional, Honours and Pass Course Programmes at the Undergraduate level; and different Advanced Diploma courses of Career Oriented and Skill Development programmes in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences of  this University, for the award of Degrees and Diplomas, in person.”

  • The Chancellor will accord permission for the same in the words:

“By virtue of the authority vested in me as the Chancellor of The IIS University, I hereby grant permission for presenting the recipients of the Research Degrees of Ph.D.; Merit Position holders of different programmes at the Postgraduate level; Professional, Honours and Pass Course programmes at the Undergraduate level; and different Advanced Diploma courses of Career Oriented and Skill Development programmes in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, for whom approval has been accorded by the Academic Council and the Board of Management for the award of Degrees and Diplomas, in person.”

 

The Dean, will then present the graduands for the award of degrees in person. He will call out the names of the recipients of degrees in the following order:

         i)   Ph.D. Degrees

         ii)  Postgraduate Degrees (Professional programs) subject wise in alphabetic order

iii) Postgraduate Degrees subject wise in alphabetic order

          iii)  Under Graduate Professional Degrees subject wise in alphabetic order

         iv)  Under Graduate Honours Degrees subject wise in alphabetic order

         v)  Under Graduate Pass course degrees

         vi) Advanced Diploma in COSD programmes

 The Dean will announce:

“For receiving the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Arts in person, I call upon  Garima Jain, Kanupriya Rathore, Laghvee Sharma,  Shruti Jain and Tabeenah Anjum Qureshi.

 

For receiving the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Social Sciences in person, I call upon  Banwari Lal Yadav, Christina Davidson, Dhruvata Sharma, Fehmeena Bakht, Himangini Rathore Hooja, Neelam Sharma, Neha Kaushik, Neha Swami, Radhika Sharma and Rimpy Sharma.

 

Now I invite the merit position holders of Professional programmes at the Postgraduate level in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences for receiving their degrees in person:

 

•           Position holders in their order of merit in the programme Master of Arts (Fashion Technology) are: Charul Sharma, Charu Gupta, Anjali Verma and Himani Salat

 

•           Position holders in their order of merit in the programme Master of Arts (Journalism & Mass Communication) are: Vaidehi Singh, Suhani Sogani, Madhurima Nirmal, Swati Jadon and Khushboo Patni

 

  • Position holders in their order of merit in the programme Master of Social Work are: Udita Sharma and Shivani Sharma

 

•           Position holders in their order of merit in the programme Master of Visual Arts are: Aishwarya Naruka, Rupal Parakh, Aastha Kalia, Arza Arora and Kritika Agarwal

Now I invite the merit position holders of other programmes at the postgraduate level in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences for receiving their degrees in person:

 

•           Position holders in their order of merit in the programme Master of Arts (Economics) are: Yashasvi Pandey, Divya Sharma, Aastha Gilhotra, Nandini Agarwal and Ishita Bhatia

 

•           Position holders in their order of merit in the programme Master of Arts (English) are: Siddhi Ranka, Adhishwari Singh and Jigyasa Batra

 

•           Position holders in their order of merit in the programme Master of Arts (Psychology) are: Shubhangi Singh, Shailja Rajawat, Pooja Gupta, Nitika Gupta, and Supriya John

 

•           Position holders in their order of merit in the programme Master of Arts (Sociology) are: Saloni Singhania, Vrinda Chauhan and Pooja Kumari

 

Now I invite the merit position holders of Professional programmes at the Undergraduate level in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences for receiving their Degrees in person:

 

•           Position holders in their order of merit in the programme Bachelor of Journalism and Mass Communication are: Noor Shah, Pragya Rathore and Annabelle Teresa Crawford

 

•           Position holders in their order of merit in the programme Bachelor of Visual Arts are: Priyanka Priya, Chhavi Sharma, Shatakshi Agarwal, Shreya Patodia and Harshita Kumari Rathore

 

Now I invite the merit position holders of Honours and Pass Course programmes at the undergraduate level in the faculty of Arts and Social Sciences for receiving their degrees in person:

           

•           Position holders in their order of merit in the programme Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Economics are: Kritika Bhatia, Ankriti Singh, Tanisha Gupta, Shreya Jain and Anukriti Gupta

 

•           Position holders in their order of merit in the programme Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in English are: Priyanka Sharma, Richa Rathore, Mudita Choudhary, Devika Nagdev and Surekha

           

•           Position holders in their order of merit in the programme Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Political Science are: Hritvika Panwar, Aishwarya Sharma and Meenal Gothwal

 

•           Position holders in their order of merit in the programme Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Psychology are: Shiromi Chaturvedi, Jayshree Sharma, Aditi Lakhotia,  Laveena Khatri  and Anjali Singh Ranjeerot

 

•           Position holders in their order of merit for the Degree of Bachelor of Arts are: Ankita Meena, Canne Subhadra Sharma, Gargi Sharma, Prakarati Singh, Divya Manawat, Kritika Garg, Vandana Choudhary, Diksha Beniwal, Sonal Choudhary and Yukti Kanwat

 

Now I invite the merit position holders of various Advanced Diploma courses of Career Oriented and Skill Development programmes in the faculty of Arts and Social Sciences for the award of Diplomas, in person:

 “By virtue of the authority vested in me as the Chancellor of The IIS University, I admit you to the degrees of Doctor of Philosophy, Master of Science in Information Technology, Master of Science in Fashion Technology, Master of Science, Bachelor of Computer Applications, Bachelor of Science in Fashion Technology, Bachelor of Science in Jewellery Design and Technology, Bachelor of Science-Honours, B.Sc. Home Science and Bachelor of Science, as mentioned by the Dean, Faculty of Science of this University and all other graduands who have been declared qualified for the same by the University. I direct you to prove worthy of the same throughout your life by acts and behaviour appropriate for your degree/diploma. In token thereof, you have been presented with these degrees/diplomas and I authorize you to wear the robes as the insignia of your Degree/Diploma.”

After conferment of degrees/diplomas by the Chancellor, graduates will express their gratitude to the Chancellor by bowing slightly and then take their seats, on being directed by the dean.

 19. Awards and Gold Medals

  • The Registrar will then request the dignitaries on the dais to award the University Gold Medals along with Merit Certificates to the toppers of different programmes and Endowment Award to the eligible graduate selected as per the conditions and criteria of the concerned award
  • She will invite the respective graduates one by one for receiving the Gold Medal / Endowment Award. The respective graduates will reach the stage when called by the Registrar, receive the gold medal / Endowment Award, bow slightly to show respect and then come back to take their seats
  • Before presenting the candidates, the Registrar will seek the permission of the Chancellor by saying:

“Mr. Chancellor, permit me to present to you in accordance with the grace passed by  the Academic Council and the Board of Management, the graduates whose names are herewith submitted for the award of University Gold Medals and Merit Certificates for academic excellence in different programmes of various faculties of this University and Endowment Awards to the candidates fulfilling the conditions and criteria of such  awards.”

  • The Chancellor will accord permission for the same by saying:

“I Permit.”

  • Registrar will announce :

20. Award of Degrees and Diplomas in Absentia

  • The Registrar will then request the Chancellor to confer the degrees/diplomas on the graduands who have qualified for the award of various degrees/diplomas but have not been able to attend the Convocation.

For this purpose the Registrar will request the Chancellor in the following words:

 

“Mr. Chancellor, I now request that in accordance with the grace passed by the Academic Council and the Board of Management, the candidates whose names are herewith submitted in the record of Degrees and Diplomas, but who could not be present in the Convocation, be admitted to their respective Degrees/Diplomas in Absentia.”

 

The Chancellor will confer degrees/diplomas on all such candidates in absentia by saying:

“By virtue of the authority vested in me as the Chancellor of the IIS University, I admit all those graduands of this University, who could not attend the Convocation to receive in person the research degrees of Ph.D., the Master's and Bachelor’s degrees in different faculties, Postgraduate Diploma in Management and Advanced Diplomas in different Career Oriented and Skill Development Programmes. I authorize them also to wear the robes ordained as the insignia of their degree/diploma and direct them in absentia to prove worthy of the same throughout their life by the acts and behaviour appropriate for their degrees and diplomas.”

 

21. Administration of the Oath

     (A sheet containing the Oath will be provided to all graduates)

  • The Registrar will then announce:

 “May I request the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor to initiate and bless the graduates who have been conferred with the degrees and diplomas and the awardees of University Gold Medals, Merit Certificates and Endowment Award and administer the Oath to them.”

      The Registrar will say:

     “All graduates please rise.”

  • All the graduates and awardees will then rise and keep standing at their places to receive the initiation, blessings and the Oath.
  • The graduates will repeat the Oath sentence by sentence as the Vice Chancellor administers it to them. Thereafter, the graduates will bow slightly to express their  gratitude and take their seats

 22. Convocation Address

  • After a brief audio-visual presentation on the Chief Guest, the Vice-Chancellor will invite the Chief Guest to deliver the Convocation Address
  • After the Convocation Address by the Chief Guest, Vice Chancellor will present memento to the Chief Guest
  • Thereafter, the Registrar will propose a Vote of Thanks.

23. Dissolution of the Convocation Proceedings

  • The Registrar will then seek permission of the Chancellor for Convocation to be dissolved in the following words:

      “Mr. Chancellor, kindly permit for dissolution of the Convocation.”

  • The Chancellor will say:

      “I do permit.”

  • The Registrar will then request the Vice Chancellor to dissolve the Convocation by saying : 

     “Mr. Vice-Chancellor, kindly dissolve the Fourth Convocation of the University”.

  • The Vice Chancellor will then dissolve the Convocation in the following words:

“With the permission of the Chancellor, I hereby dissolve the Fourth convocation of the University.”

24.  National Anthem

  • The compère will announce :

     “I request all to rise for the National Anthem.”

  • All present in the hall will rise and remain standing till the National Anthem is over.
  •  The graduates and others will keep standing till all the members of the academic procession have left the Convocation hall.

25.  Return of the Procession

  •  The compère will announce:

“The Academic procession will now leave the Convocation hall. You are all  requested to keep standing till all the members of the procession have left the  hall.”

  • The return of the procession will be in the following order:
  • The guests may leave the hall 5 minutes after the procession has left the Convocation hall and proceed for lunch. 
  • The graduates may leave the Convocation Hall 5 minutes after the guests have left the

Convocation hall and after returning the academic dress all the designated counter proceed for lunch.

26. Group Photo

  • The members of the Academic Procession will assemble for a group photograph and then proceed for lunch.
