Objective of the workshop: 

  • To Identify and understand the craft techniques of tie and dye & liquid embroidery.
  • To explore the possibilities of fabric embellishment through various contemporary ways.
  • To develop products through innovative techniques learnt during workshop

Summary/Description:

The Fashion Design & Textiles Guild committee of the IIS (deemed to be University), had organized a demonstration on “Shibori (Tie & Dye)” on 28th September, 2023. The resource person for the same was Ms. Raj Dholiwal, Senior Art & Craft Instructor, Pidilite, Jaipur. The resource person started with an introduction and demonstrated on the process of Shibori Tie-dye. The process of tie-dye typically consists of folding, twisting, pleating, or crumpling fabric or garment and binding with string or rubber bands, followed by application of dye. It is a technique for a variety of ways of embellishing textiles by shaping cloth and securing it before dying. Students showed inclination towards the workshop and value added the t-shirt, shirt with shibori . This activity helped not only to enhance the creativity but also the presentation skills.The workshop was very fruitful for the students and the students learnt the techniques enthusiastically. This workshop helped them to create their own products in a short span of time.  

Outcome of the workshop:

Students developed skills about using the different mediums of the colours and developed a variety of products.
