Anveshan: National Student Research Convention

Date: 27th  and 28th March, 2022

Venue: Academy of Maritime Education and Training (deemed to be University) (AMET) Chennai

The inaugural function of Anveshan 2021-22 was held on 27th March 2022 at 9:00 am at Shri Janakiraman Auditorium.

The convention was organized by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi in association with AMET- Academy of Maritime Education and Training- (deemed to be University), Chennai.

Before the inaugural ceremony march past of all the colleges took place in AMET University in which the students carried the flag of our university.

Dr. J. Ramachandran, Chancellor of AMET delivered inaugural address.

Mr. M. Mahesh Kumar, Deputy Mayor Chennai was invited as a Chief Guest. Dr. R. Srinivasan Member Secretary, TNSCST was invited as the Guest of Honor. Dr. (Mrs.) Pankaj Mittal, Secretary General AIU delivered the Special addresses on New Education  Policy(NEP). Dr. Amarendra Pani,  Joint Director (Research), AIU, delivered the theme address, Dr. Rajesh Ramachandran, the  Pro Chancellor, AMET delivered the felicitation address.

Col. Dr. G. Thiruvasagam, President AIU and Vice-Chancellor of AMET delivered the Presidential address.

The Projects were invited in Five Categories/areas –

i) Agriculture Sciences

ii) Basic Sciences,

iii) Engineering &Technology

iv) Health Sciences and Allied Subjects, Pharmacy, Nutrition, etc.

v) Social Sciences, Humanities, Commerce and Law (Objective and Result Oriented Projects).

Three projects were selected from IIS(deemed to be University) North zone:

  1. A group project in category of Engineering and technology by Anjali Chauhan and Garima Upadhyay under the mentorship of Dr. Priyanka Verma.
  2. An individual project in category of Social sciences by Aneesha Jain under the mentorship of Dr J.N. Sharma.
  3. An individual project in category of Health Sciences and Allied Subjects, Pharmacy, Nutrition by Riddhima Sharma under the mentorship of Dr. Swati Vyas.

These students travelled to Chennai with Dr. Priyanka Verma to attend the Convention.

The projects were presented in three rounds.

In the first round, the participants had displayed their projects in poster presentations (Size of Posters -1m x 1m) before a panel of judges.

In the second round, the project was allowed for podium and oral presentation before the panel of Judges.

And, in the third round, the presentation was open for question-answer.

AMET university provided the required infrastructural facilities like Display/Mounting Boards, space for display, LCD/ overhead projector, etc required for presentation.

Before the valedictory ceremony, the projects were also presented in front of school students of Chennai.

The valedictory function of Anveshan: 2021-22 was held on 28th March at 11:00 am at Shri Janakiraman Auditorium.

Col. Dr. G. Thiruvasagam, President AIU and Vice-Chancellor AMET delivered the Presidential address, Dr. R. Velraj Vice-Chancellor, Anna University distributed the prizes & awards and delivered Valedictory address, Dr. Rajesh Ramachandran, Pro Chancellor, AMET, delivered the Chief Guest address.

Award and Incentive

  • Winners in the National Student Research Convention were awarded cash prizes along with Certificates and Mementos. The amount of Cash Prize for first position holder was Rs 50,000, second Position Rs. 25,000 and third position Rs 15,000, for each of the five categories/ areas.
  • One best project was selected across all the five categories which was awarded with the Gold Medal along with the cash prize and certificate.
  • The project from IIS(deemed to be University) by Aneesha Jain  was awarded with Best Project-Third prize in the category of Social Sciences. She was also given a memento, certificate of third position and Rs.15000 as cash prize.
  • All the participants were awarded with the participation certificate along with their mentor’s certificates.

This convention fulfilled its objective of promoting and encouraging young researchers along with providing them with financial and physical resources. The participants also learned to work collaboratively with other researchers, demonstrating effective communication and problem-solving skills.
