Notice for Gender Champions Club

NOTICE

In order to promote gender equality and increase the outreach for creating an environment that fosters equal treatment, Government of India envisages engagement of students through Gender Champion Clubs in all schools and colleges across the country. It is a joint initiative of the Ministry of Women and Child Development and Ministry of Human Resource Development. The aim is to make youngsters Gender sensitive and to create positive social norms that value girls and their rights.

        The University’s Gender Champion Club invites you to join the club as members or as Gender Champions to promote Gender Sensitivity amongst the students and community at large. 

Gender Champions are envisaged as responsible leaders with following responsibilities:

·        To facilitate an enabling environment in the University to advocate gender equality and justice, where girls are treated with dignity and respect.

·        To conduct outreach work for gender justice and awareness.

·        To identify those who are facing discrimination and providing them support by creating an enabling environment for sharing anxieties, problems and difficulties faced by them.

·        To initiate dialogue, discussions, workshops, street plays, poster exhibition, panel discussions, film shows, etc. in the campus for promoting gender equality and justice.

Eligibility Criteria :

Candidates who wish to become Gender Champions should have-

·         A clear commitment towards gender equality, gender-based non-discrimination and basic knowledge of socio-cultural and gender-based issues

·         Good leadership, communication and presentation skills.

·         Good people-centered skills to be able to reach out to different persons in the campus

·         Readiness to invest time in organizing various activities and attending meetings

        Selection and Term of Gender Champions:
        The applications of the candidates will be screened and they will be selected on the basis of interviews conducted for the same.

The term of Gender Champions will be for one year, extendable by one more year, based on their performance during the year.

All those students who are interested to be a part of the Gender Champions Club can fill the Google Form (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeHBcvj_xNDw4Dzf2wS6yKYcvb9qbOcvzkkHLRACXn-2_Cc4Q/viewform?usp=sf_link) and submit the same by 12 January 2021.
