Domestic tour : Mind-blowing Mumbai & Incredible Goa
 
 
The IIS University domestic tour this year was an amazing experience with an overwhelming response. 196 students of the college accompanied with 8 faculty members & 4 Tour Escorts left for this incredible journey to Mumbai & Goa for 6 nights & 7 days.
The huge number of registration resulted in the formation of 4 groups of 49 students each departing on 4th, 6th, 10th, 11th October 2011, and the arrivals of these groups were on  11th, 13th, 17th, 18th October 2011.
 
Mumbai:
 
The first group’s journey started on 4th October by Duronto Express which reached Mumbai on 5th October .The first day was spent in enjoying the beautiful horizon of the Juhu beach.The students & teachers enjoyed mouth watering bhels at Juhu chaupati. The next day visit was organized  to the historical Elephanta Caves. The caves depicted  the rich historic heritage of our country.  It was a one hour journey through ferry. The evening was committed for a shopping on Linking road , past Marine Drive and the busy streets of Mumbai. The third day was a visit to Essell World  & Water Kingdom –a place which everyone was looking forward to. It was fun enjoying the thrilling rides and water sports.
 
Goa:
 
In the evening on the same day, it was departure for Goa. After arriving to Goa in the morning, the next day, the entire group went to see the old Goa and churches including the Bom Jesus of Basillica, after which we were on a cruise in the Mandavi river from which a spectacular view of the city could be seen. The visit to beaches was the most exciting part of Goa. Anjuna beach and Baga beach provided a spectacular view of the sea and it was fun watching the waves come and go. The evening was reserved for shopping at the local market of  Calangute. The last day visit to Calangute beach was organized where there were lots of water sports. The evening was dedicated to shopping in Panaji city. The seventh day after breakfast, the groups left for the Airport to take their flight back home.
 
International Tour:  Mesmerizing Macau , Tantalizing Thailand & Hypnotizing Hongkong 
 
 
An International tour was organized by the IIS University from 31st  October  to 6th  November, 2011 to Hong Kong , Macau & Thailand. 17 students escorted by 2 teachers & a tour agent joined this tour & witnessed the spectacular Far East. The journey began from the college campus from where we left to the IGI airport to take the Cathay Pacific Flight to Hong Kong  on 31st  October .
Day 1 :- As we landed in Hong Kong we had to board a ferry to visit the city which has one of the best Casinos in the world. Macau is a beautiful city with tall, mesmerizing buildings all around. Firstly, we went to the Saint Paul’s Church of Macau which was beautiful and then we went to a big market where all the girls shopped and had fun. 
After the delicious lunch we went to the Macau tower. It was around 100 feet tall. We went to the 68th floor of the tower and from there, the view of the whole Macau city was unbelievable. After visiting these spots we went to our hotel as the great Venetian was waiting for us.
We were really fascinated by the magnanimous casino in the hotel. All of us had great fun playing and enjoying in the Venetian.
 
Day 2:- Next day, we checked out and boarded in the ferry to go to Hong Kong. As we reached Hong Kong we headed for the lunch. We went to our hotel and got ready for the most popular light and sound show. It was amazing how the lights were flashing on the tall beautiful buildings with the sound synchronization.
 
Day 3:- The next day we went to the ladies market for shopping and after that we went to a beautiful beach. From there we visited the Victorian Harbour & Madam Tussads museum which was located on the heights of a mountain.
 
Day 4:- Startling entry and dazzling rides & wonderful shows was all about Disneyland. We had great fun as we saw the astonishing rally of all the cartoon characters from Mickey-Minnie to Winnie the Pooh to Goofy and so on.
 
Day 5:- We checked out from the hotel & boarded our flight to Bangkok. We reached by the dinner time and checked in the hotel.
 
Day 6 :- We had a temple visit which housed a fabulous Buddha statue. Then we went to another Buddhist temple with the most prodigious reclining Buddha. 
 
Days 7 :- We went to the Siam ocean world which was again confounding. We saw a 5-D show and headed for lunch. We were back to our land with fond memories of an awesome trip.

  2. Visit to Regional Branch of RBI, Jaipur (Organising department-Economics)

The Department of Economics, The IIS University organized an educational visit to the Regional branch of RBI, Jaipur on 3rd February 2012 for the students of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes under the supervision of Dr Nidhi Sharma and Dr Anima Vaish.  
AIM: The aim of the visit was to acquaint the students with organization, functioning and working systems of the RBI. An additional aim was to understand the functioning of the Monetary Policy and the manufacturing and destruction of currency notes.
SEQUENCE OF EVENTS DURING VISIT
1.   Physical security check.
2.   Visit to the windows of withdrawal and deposit of currency.
3.   A brief on coin vending machine.
4.   Display of educational literature.
5.   Presentation in seminar room.
6.   Question-answer session with the Regional Director.

 

2.  Field Visit to Nahargarh (Organising department- Journalism & Mass Communication )
            9th & 10th January 2012
               Two days workshop on Photography was organized by the Jounalism department. The resource person was Mr. Deepak Sachdeva, Department Co-ordinator, JMC, IIS University. Mr. Sachdeva taught the basic photography skills. It was followed by field visit to Nahargarh Fort on 31st January to give the students practical exposure of photography.

3.   Visit to Shri Krishna Rolling mills (Organising department- Chemistry)
       9th November 2011

              The department organized an industry visit for M.Sc. sem III students to Shri Krishna Rolling Mills where they learnt how raw steel is converted into steel rods & moulds after passing through cutting, heating, cooling etc the scraps were also melted in blast furnace & made reusable .They also learnt about the quality testing, manually & spectrometrically.

4. Visit to Architect AD studio (Organising department- Physics)
              5th November 2011
                As a part of B.Sc. sem III (residential space design practical )syallabus the students visited Mr. Gaurav Agarwal’s office & gained knowledge on –Metric projections ,axonometric, isometric, & perspective view of plan & the orthographic projections .Students also learned about the cone of vision , stationary point, two point, one point projections. The resource person also gave a list of house plans & showed pictures & slides of particular type of projections.
 
 5.  Visit to PHED, Gandhi nagar, Jaipur (Organising department –Home Science)
               18th October 2011

                Department of home science organized a visit to the “Public Health Engineering department” situated at Gandhi nagar for the students of M.Sc. semester I, foods & nutrition. The purpose of visit was to study the microbiology of water. The experts explained and inhibited the entire process in detail to the students .The “MPN”  test was taught in the laboratory.
 
6.  Visit to Kalaneri artists camp (Organising department- Visual Arts)
              17th October 2011
At Kalaneri Art Gallery - A Gallery of Contemporary Art,  students of BVA Sem I Batch A, BVA Sem V Painting, MVA Sem I and III Painting were taken by Dr. Amita Raj Goyal and Mahesh Singh where the exhibition by the artists of Progressive artists’ group of Rajasthan was organized.

 

7.   Visit to an Art Gallery (Organising department- Visual Arts)

   9th October 2011

The students of BVA Sem I ( Batch B) and MVA Sem I and MVA Sem III, were taken to visit an Art Gallery ‘D’, Indian Canvass at C-scheme by Dr. Amita Raj Goyal and Mr. Mahesh Singh on 9th October 2011. The aim behind visiting this exhibition was updating the students about the modern trends and techniques used by upcoming and renowned artists of Rajasthan.
After this, they continued to Jawahar Kala Kendra where 50 artists displayed their canvasses, prints, graphic prints sculptures etc. Here the students came to know about various styles and printing techniques used in the modern concepts.

8. Visit to Nahargarh Biological Park (Organising department –Environmental science)
          3rd October 2011

On the occasion of world wild life week, (1-7 october) the Department of Environmental science organised a visit for the students of  B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.d to Nahargarh Biological Park where the group could watch the tigers which have been rescued from different places, and collect detailed information about the steps taken to take care of the animals . The students also visited the rose garden and the traditional structure constructed for water conservation.

9. Visit to Bosch, Jaipur (Organising department – Psychology)
               October

The Department of Psychology organized a visit for the students with the specialization in organizational behavior. They were taken to study the functioning of HR practices at Bosch, Jaipur. 14 students participated in the field visit and were accompanied by Dr. Chandrani Sen.

 

10. Visit to Saras diary (Organising department – Home Science)
               3rd October 2011


As a part of the curriculum, M.Sc. Foods & Nutrition sem I, B.Sc. Home Science sem I and FSQC Diploma students visited the Saras Dairy Plant, Jaipur. They visited different units of the plant viz. pasteurization unit and tetra pack unit of the milk processing plant. The diary officials illustrated tetra packing and milk packaging and all the diary processes including sterlisation , pasteurization, white butter production, paneer making and milk packaging and HACCP unit, etc.


 11. Field Visit to village Tilonia (Organising department – Journalism)
              19th & 20th September 2011

Two days workshop followed by a filed visit was conducted on 19th & 20th September 2011. Students visited the village Tilonia with the motive of gaining knowledge and get acquainted with the problems that the rural people face. The resource person was Ms. Mamta Jaitley. She talked about the importance of rural knowledge in the field of Journalism.


 12. Visit to Home-Décor show (Organising department- Home science)
               15th September 2011

   Department of Home Science organized a visit for the students of B.Sc. Home Science sem.V to the Liberty- Home Décor show, Amroodon ka Bagh, Jaipur.They visited the stalls of all electronic goods which are used in day to day life . The students also collected the price lists & various pamphlets.

13.  Visit to Birla Planetarium (Organising department- Physics)
               10th September 2011

In order to give hand on experience to the students, a visit to Birla Planetarium was organized by the Department of Physics. About 43 students of B.Sc. Physics along with the faculty members visited planetarium to acquaint themselves with the fascinating world of astrophysics. The students were thrilled to watch the show on “Our Solar System” which gave a brief description of each planet.
 
 14. Visit to Sewage Treatment Plant (Organising department- Environment Science)
               10th September 2011

Department of Environmental Science organized a visit for the students of M.Sc. & B.Sc. to the Sewage Treatment Plant, Rambagh Polo ground and Vermi Composing Unit, Pinjarapol Gaushala to get an in-depth knowledge of both the processes.

15. Visit to Le Meridian (Organising department – Psychology)
               September 2011

Department of Psychology organized a visit for the students with the specialization in organizational behavior. They were taken to study the functioning of HR practices at Le Meridian hotel, Jaipur. 14 students participated in the field visit and were accompanied by Dr. Chandrani Sen.

16. Visit to Art and Frames (Organising department – Visual Arts)
      23rd August 2011

A visit was conduct by the subject teacher by BVA Sem I Batch B, Mr. Shwet Goel, to ‘Art and Frames’, Jaipur where an artist from Gujrat named Mr.Yogesh Thadel arranged a solo exhibition for more than four days. He had used different styles in his own canvasses.
           
17. Visit to Amrapali Jewels (Organising department –Jewellery Designing)
             6th August 2011

An industrial visit was organized for the students of  B.Sc. Jewellery Design & technology, B.A./B.Com. /B.Sc. Jewellery Design & technology, Diploma & Advance Diploma (COSD) Jewellery Designing  on 6th  of August, 2011  at AMRAPALI JEWELS, Sitapura, Jaipur.
The  company  manufactures  exquisite  silver  jewellery like  necklaces, bracelets, pendants, earrings, rings, cufflinks and  other ornaments. Amrapali Jewels is a synonym for the finest ethnic and tribal jewellery.

18.  A visit to JAS'11 (Organising Department –Jewellery  Designing)
       22nd-25th July 2011

Department of Jewellery Designing organized a visit to JAS '11, the Jewellery exhibition for students of Bsc. Jewellery design & Technology.
JEWELLERS ASSOCIATION SHOW, JAIPUR (JAS ‘11)
JAS was an extraordinary jewellery show which is organized annually by the eminent jewellers of Jaipur and it has created a ripple effect in the jewellery world. The  fifth edition of  India's most prominent Color Stone & Jewellery Show  i.e. Jewellers Association Show (JAS-11) was held from 22-25 July, 2011. The show is being organized in the heartland of precious/semi-precious jewellery & hub of color stones.

19 . Visit to Axis Bank ( Organising Department – Financial Studies)

The students of  Foreign Trade Management and Financial Studies visited the main branch of Axis Bank, Jaipur. They were introduced to the concepts of departmental banking, viz. Operation, Advances and Foreign Exchange. They were shown most of the documents and operational software in processing of various banking requests. The students also interacted with the branch head , Mr.Neeraj Jain, VP, Axis Bank and further clarified their queries pertaining to the subject.

 

20. Visit to the Export House: M/S Ratan Textiles ( Organising Department – Foreign Trade  Management)

This visit took the students to the printing, packing and retail unit of M/S Ratan Textiles at Civil Lines, Jaipur. The staff updated the students on the latest procedure in packing and retailing of exportable items. The visit was followed by an interactive session with the experts from various departments of the export-oriented unit.
