Objective of the workshop/seminar/activity:   To acquaint the students with the responsibilities and duties of the Gender Champion Club

Summary/Description (max 500 words): 

Gender Champion Club, IIS (Deemed to be University) organized an Orientation session for the  newly selected Gender Champions on March 27, 2021. The session started with the formal introduction of Gender Champions. In Orientation Session, Nodal officer explained elaborately about the purpose of Gender Club through PPT Presentation. Gender Champions were made aware about the aims of Gender Club. They were informed about that Gender Club work to sensitize gender equality, to enhance women empowerment, to create mutual respect among the genders and to create awareness on human and women rights.  Nodal officer discussed various activities which Gender Champions can plan to fulfill the aim and explained them about their roles and responsibilities. The broad mandate of a Gender Champion is to provide an integrated and interdisciplinary approach to understand the social and cultural constructions of gender that shape the experience of men and women in the society.

The session ended with an interactive session where Nodal officer answered all the queries of the Gender Champions.

Outcome of the activity/event/seminar/workshop: The session created awareness amongst the students about the roles and responsibilities of Gender Champions.
