It was an inspiring interactive session where speaker made students aware  about the basic human rights that are provided not only by the Constitution but also by the U.N. which we have and can rightfully exercise.  The session initiated with the statement that in democratic country like India all citizens including women are entitled to equal rights. She stressed that we are deprived of the right kind of mentality. The first and foremost thing that we need to take care of is the prejudice against women not only the males but also by the women for women. She also gave a detailed account of the problems of female foeticide, patriarchial society, dowry deaths etc. She elaborated on various schemes run by the government and Constitution also provides reservation to the women to make them financially empowered.

The session was quite informative and insightful.  It will help in creating awareness about human rights and various consumer rights. She also notified students  about Vishakha guidelines which specifically focuses on sexual harassment cases at work places.
