Convocation Dress

FOR GRADUANDS

A)        Dress Code

• The graduands are required to follow the following dress code norms for the convocation:

• Females: Saris with appropriate blouses.

• Males: White shirt, black/grey trousers and blazer or suit with tie and black shoes
• Casual footwear (trainers, plimsolls, flip-flops, Bathroom slippers and hawai chappals etc) is not permitted
• Flowers, handbags, or other articles should neither be worn nor be carried during the convocation ceremony

Since storage/ locker facility is not available, the graduands should not carry their purses, valuables, bags, etc.

B)        Academic Dress

• The graduands will wear the academic dress for the convocation ceremony which comprises convocation gown, cap and hood.
• All  the graduands of UG Programmes will wear black gowns and black caps, however the colour of the hoods will be faculty specific, viz:

• Arts and Social Science faculty: RED

• Commerce and Management faculty: YELLOW
• Science faculty: BLUE

• Arts and Social Science faculty: One side RED and other side SILVER
• Commerce and Management faculty: One side YELLOW and other side WHITE 
• Science faculty: One side BLUE and other side LIGHT BLUE

• For Ph.D./ M.Phil. graduands the Academic robes will consist of:

• Red gown with yellow facing
• Red cap
• Red Hood with Golden Lining

• The graduands without academic dress will not be permitted to attend the Convocation Ceremony in person.

FOR THE GUESTS, OFFICERS AND THE MEMBERS OF THE STATUTORY BODIES (BOARD OF MANAGEMENT & ACADEMIC COUNCIL) OF THE UNIVERSITY.

• The dress code for all the faculty of the University will be as follows:
  • Females: Function sari with uniform blazer
  • Males : Uniform with tie and blazer
• Formal wear for BOM and AC External Members

B)        Academic dress

• Chancellor / Vice Chancellor / Rector & Registrar:

Royal Blue Velvet Gown with heavy embroidery (Serpentine in front and on sleeves) made like an Oxford Proctor’s dress gown; Blue Velvet Academic Cap with Gold Tassel, nine inches long

• Chief Guest  :

Maroon Velvet Gown with heavy embroidery (Flower Type in front and on sleeves) made like an Oxford Proctor’s dress gown; Maroon Velvet Academic Cap with embroidery and Gold Tassel, nine inches long

• Deans and Members of the Board of Management:

Red Poly Silk Gown with Blue facing and zari stripe in front and on sleeves; Red Academic Cap with zari and Gold Tassel, nine inches long

• Members of the Academic Council:

Black Poly Silk Gown with zari stripe in front and on sleeves; Black Academic Cap with zari and Gold Tassel, nine inches long
