ICSSR Sponsored 2-Week Capacity Building Programme on Research Methodology for Young Faculty in Social Sciences, 21 May 2015- 3 June 2015

Research is about creating new knowledge. It is a continuous process and requires gradual progression to achieve meaningful results for the benefit of society at large. Research Progression requires a logical and conceptual knowledge, which is found lacking in the today’s academic environment.  To meet this challenge it is necessary to train and equip the young faculty so that they can comply with the quality standards of research in their respective disciplines. The Centre for Research, Innovation and Training at the IIS University is organizing a 2 week programme on capacity building to develop and promote research acumen amongst the young faculty in social sciences including commerce & management and to make them user friendly with the statistical softwares.  The Programme has been designed to bridge the gap between theory and practical approach adopted by the young academicians in research progression.

 Objective:                                      

The capacity building Programme has been designed to achieve the following objectives:

1. To make the faculty participants’ familiar and friendly with the basic concepts of research methodology by brushing up their basic knowledge on research methodology.
2. To make the participants user friendly with the statistical software like SPSS and others.
3. To give hands on experience in research to the participants through the field/ practical work assigned to them.
4. To develop the applied research skills of the participants.

Eligibility:

1. Faculty members of any University/College/Institute are eligible to apply for the Programme.
2. Target participants for the proposed course will be the young faculty members from social science, commerce & management faculty.
3. 50% seats are reserved for women candidates.
4. Preference would be given to SC, ST, OBC and Minority candidates.

Total no of Participants:

1. Total 30 participants will be selected out of  the applications received .
2. 20 seats are reserved for outstation candidates and 10 for local candidates.

Outcome:

By the end of the programme, faculty participants would be expected to submit the following:

1. A Draft Research Paper in their area of interest.
2. Write up on the learning’s from the programme and how the same would be implemented by the participants.
