Mentor Guardian Programme

IIS (Deemed to be University), Jaipur initiated the Mentor Guardian Programme as a step to bring closer the students and teachers of the University. The Mentor Guardian Programme aims at enabling, fostering and nurturing constructive and positive interaction, guidance and mentorship of students by Faculty Members. The Mentor Guardian Programme operates to facilitate the dialogue between teachers, their respective student-wards and parents. The present committee comprises of the following members:

The teacher designated as MENTOR GUARDIAN is given a current list of students every year and is responsible for keeping an eye on the activities of the wards and her personal or general problems impeding the academic output. This helps tackle and understand the youth of today psychologically, and monitor the performance taking feedback from the student, her teachers and parents.

A Mentor Guardian is:

• Available, accessible and consistent
• Prompt and reliable
• Caring and supportive
• A good listener and confidante
• An encourager, friend, guide and coach
• A positive role-model

A Mentor Guardian assumes four main roles:

The roles and responsibilities of the Mentor Guardian are to:

• Demonstrate a willingness to commit to the Mentor Guardian System.
• Be responsible for keeping an eye on the activities of the wards and her personal or general problems impeding the academic output.
• Resolve difficulties of the students through discussion.
• Keep a track of the academic progress as well as the overall development of the students by recognizing their latent talents.
• Assist in the development of a vibrant and supportive student.
• Counsel the student to combat the problem of absenteeism.
• Ensure maximum participation in co-curricular activities and reduce the feeling of depersonalization.
• Meet (or connect) with the student at least once in a month.
• Meet (or connect) with the student’s parent   at least once in a session.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding any shared information.
• Maintain a record of meetings with their respective ward in a register.

The roles and responsibilities of the students are to:

• Meet with their respective MENTOR GUARDIAN on regular basis.
• Seek guidance and support in academic and other areas.
• Take initiative and be proactive in her own career development.
• Participate in open and honest discussions with the MENTOR GUARDIAN.
• Provide feedback on the effectiveness of the Mentor Guardian Programme
