Demonstration on “Making A Clay Bottle”
A demonstration given by the sculptor Mr. Giriraj Sharma, Asstt. Professor Visual Arts Department was actually a fun hand making object demo for the beginners or budding sculptors. He demonstrated and taught to mould a clay into a desired form and focused on important steps and features of shaping it. Here a crushed plastic bottle was modeled by Mr. Sharma. As clay shrinks and crushes, he explained many minute techniques of handling it. Sir told that observation of an object carefully was a basic and primary part of modeling a 3D object because it helps in using tools for giving depth, curves, shapes and volume to the clay. Students enjoyed watching an artist playing with the clay and giving it a shape of an object in just few minutes by applying and removing clay from here and there. Sir also answered the questions and queries of the students about the nature of clay, tools and various techniques and methods and students got motivated and took permission from Sir to work in the sculpture lab in their spare time.
