Marbling Workshop

Fine Art Guild organized a "Marbling Workshop" on 1st April in Department  of Visual Arts. Marbling is a method of aqueous surface design, which can produce patterns similar to smooth marble or other kinds of stone. The patterns are the result of color floated on either plain water or a viscous solution known as size, and then carefully transferred to an absorbent surface, such as paper or fabric. It is based on principle that oil and water never mixes.

Enamel paints were used to create Marbling texture on paper, mobile cover and jewelry. A tray was taken and water was poured in the same. After that kerosene oil was diluted in enamel paints to get a proper consistency of the color. Then the color was dropped with the help of a brush on the surface of the water and was mixed with the help of a needle to create different pattern. Once the pattern was created on the surface of water, different surface were dipped in the tray to transfer the marbling texture on the same like paper, mobile cover, mount board and jewelry.

Through this workshop students not only learned to create marbling effect but also got to learn how it can be used on various surfaces and how special effects can be added to various product to enhance the beauty of the product using the same.
