Starting with sex-ratio in Rajasthan as criteria for status of health Ms. Chanda Asani took the students through History of Rajasthan with perspective of women based on a book Aadhi Abaadika Sangharsh. How Mirabai challenged gender, caste and patriarchy relevant even for present day women. Following the footsteps of Amrita devi and her daughters many men in the village of Jodhpur sacrificed their life to stop the king’s men from cutting trees. British rulers were challenged by women power, Queen mothers adopted sons to keep the kingdom from going into enemy hands and the British systematically reduced the power of women by various means! This going back and forth through the lives of women was to give an insight into empowerment and strategies women used to challenge systems so girls in present do not have to invent the wheel all over.
