The Fashion & Textiles Guild committee had organised a guild activity –a visit to Megha Overseas Export House on 06th February 2020 for the students of B.Sc. Fashion Design Semester V and GPEM V Sem. Total 35 students participated in this activity. The main objective behind this visit was to provide the exposure to students about the garment manufacturing process from point of origin to point of consumption. Different departments like fabric, cutting, stitching, merchandising, finishing and quality checking have been explored by the students. Practical aspect of different processes has been discussed with the students, through which they can relate theoretical concept of all the processes involved in the manufacturing process.

As soon as the students reached Megha Overseas Export House,  students were divided in two groups and were send to explore the different sections i.e. fully automatic embroidery department  & garment manufactured department. They were guided by Mr. Rajesh Gupta, Manager and Ms. Megha Gupta, designer who briefed the students about the various steps involved in the manufacturing of garments, starting from the grey fabric. The Megha Overseas export house basically deals with all types of cotton fabrics and is involved in production of apparel. They produce and source exclusive range of women’s patch garments. Its range of clothing includes, women’s shirts, top, skirts and delivers wide range of women’s regular and stylizes wear with high quality material assuring their comfort.

Students got an opportunity to see the process of CAD embroidery machine and sewing department. It was a beneficial visit for the students as they interacted with the workers and gained practical knowledge about garment manufacturing right from the grey fabric to finished garment.

Overall learning was good interims of understanding the garment production.
