The demonstration was given by Dr. Sunetra Datt, an expert in Fashion Designing and printing process and is currently a Sr. Assistant Professor at IIS (Deemed to be) University, Jaipur. She started the demonstration with the brief introduction of Tie and Dye method using acrylic colors.
Tie-dyeing, method of dyeing by hand in which coloured patterns are produced in the fabric by gathering together many small portions of material and tying them tightly with string before immersing the cloth in the dyebath. The dye fails to penetrate the tied sections. Scarf/Bandana is an essential part of Indian attire and they add elegance and grace to Indian outfits.
After the end of the demonstration students also made tie and dye samples of Shibori and checks methods.
Outcome of the Guest lecture
The main objective behind this demonstration was to provide an exposure to express design ideas through Tie and Dye using the cold process with acrylic colors, able to translate a design into accessories.
