Summary/Description:

The Fashion Design & Textiles Guild committee of the IIS (deemed to be University), had organized a demonstration on “Video Making” on 03rd January 2025. Mr. Kostubh Vyas , Asst. professor was the resource person for the demonstration.

A video-making demonstration activity was conducted for the students of the Fashion & Textiles department with the objective of enhancing their skills in presenting their creative work through high-quality photos and videos. The session aimed to educate students on the importance of proper visual documentation, focusing particularly on camera angles, lighting, and framing, and composition— elements essential for showcasing garments, fabric textures, and design details effectively.

A detailed demonstration was provided on capturing garments from correct angles, emphasizing how camera height and position can influence the presentation of design elements like surface demonstration, drape, and fit. Students were also introduced to lighting techniques, comparing the use of natural and artificial light, and learning how to avoid overexposure, harsh shadows, or background distractions.

Outcome of the workshop:

Students learned about how to position their subject and light sources in a way that highlights the fabric’s texture and movement. The session wrapped up with a quick overview of fundamental photo and video editing tools that can improve the final results for their portfolio presentations.
