Internal Complaints Committee, IIS (Deemed to be University) organized a workshopon Gender Equality and Women Empowerment on 30th November, 2024. The session aimed to raise awareness among students about the importance of gender equality, challenge stereotypes, and inspire them to contribute to building a more inclusive society.
Objectives of the Session
To empower students and foster awareness and dialogue about the significance of the concept of Gender Equality and Women Empowerment in today’s society.
Summary
The workshop on Gender Equality and Women Empowerment featured several key highlights, beginning with compelling insights from the resource person Dr. Ankita Jain who delivered a thought-provoking session highlighting the importance of gender equality in building progressive societies. She delved into the historical context of gender inequality, differentiated between gender equality and equity, and shared case studies illustrating the positive outcomes of fostering equality. She highlighted the role of women in the society and its importance to empower and support each other in order to break from the chains of these social evils that torment and torture women. The session allowed participants to explore diverse perspectives. The session concluded with a dynamic question-and-answer segment, where participants posed insightful questions about overcoming barriers to gender equality and implementing actionable solutions at individual and institutional levels.
Outcome of the session
The workshop heightened awareness among students about gender-related challenges and practical solutions. Participants were empowered with actionable strategies to advocate for gender equality in their communities. The session successfully sensitized students to the critical importance of gender equality, encouraging them to actively promote inclusivity.
