Ms. Chanda Asani, Lecturer, Women’s Studies had been to Stani Memorial College, Tadi Market, Mansarovar as Resource person in a Seminar on ‘Women are not Born but Made’. The other speakers in the seminar were Mr. K V Singh, retired Manager from NABARD, Ms. Shobhal Singh, Founder of NGO Suryoday, Ms Uzma Khan, HOD Sociology, Ms. Rekha Jain, HOD English and Ms. Aditi Joshi, Assistant Professor, the last three from Stani Memorial.

Ms Asani spoke on Women’s Political Empowerment. Starting from why women got voting rights in India to the necessity of compulsory reservation in 73rd and 74th Amendment inspite of liberal constitutional rights, she shared her experience of working in rural areas.

The Seminar was organized jointly by English and Sociology Departments. It is a coeducation college and the students are mixed from rural and urban background. Ms Asani conducted the session bilingually to make it comfortable for students. It was an interactive session which was attended by the Assistant Principal of the college.
